SERVE IN OUR COMMUNITY
Outreach Ministries we support and partner with:
Isaiah 61 Café
As a nonprofit, this organization provides a place for the less fortunate to have access to basic needs and provides a place to rebuild, restore, and renew. Together, St. James and Good Shepherd plan a menu to cook, bake, and serve a monthly lunch for seventy to eighty guests at the Isaiah 61 Café in downtown Laconia.
Got Lunch! Laconia
Operating out of the Laconia Congregational Church, Got Lunch! is a community program that provides free and healthy groceries to children during the summer. It ensures children have access to nutritious food when subsidized school breakfast and lunch programs are unavailable. Our volunteers pack a week’s worth of lunch foods and deliver them directly to students' homes once a week during summer vacation.
Belknap House
As a family-centered shelter in Laconia, it provides safe shelter to families. Assisting with childcare, participating in a game/activity night for children, helping a resident fill out an application…, volunteers play a vital role in helping families to become independent and self-sufficient.
Camp Calumet
We raise money to send eight Laconia school children to camp for a week in each July. We also support Camp Calumet in other ways, including providing volunteers to help with mailings, taking a road trip there to have lunch at the Beach Barbeque, and participating in retreats they offer.
Hands Across the Table (HATT)
St. James and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church are the waitstaff for the folks in need of both a nutritious meal and fellowship. Free hot meals are provided by HATT at St. Andre Bessette Church Parish Hall.
Other Ministries we support
Through our budget, designated giving, special offerings, volunteer efforts, or partnerships we support several Lutheran and local organizations.
